Gaines Marina has been serving boaters since 1928. In
March of 2009, Joseph and Naomi Treadwell purchased Gaines Marina
from Denis Richard. Joe had been a commercial lobster fisherman off
the coast of Maine for
more than 25 years. A hard-working entrepreneur, he also built and
ran the B&A Boat Shop. The B&A Boat Shop offered boat hauling,
shrink wrapping, storage and specialized in custom boat finishing
and restoring. Joe plans to expand the facilities at Gaines
Marina to include custom yachts, boat restoration and repairs.

Gaines Marina is a family run business. Joe and Naomi have
three children Brian (18), Bekah (16), and Katherine (11). They
invite you to the Marina to
meet the whole family. You'll probably see Brian on the docks,
Bekah in the ship store and Katherine helping wherever possible!
The older kids are home schooled and have experience around the
water. Before moving to New
York, Brian and Bekah helped at the B&A Boat
Shop and also went lobstering. Joe built Brian’s 28 foot
lobster boat which Brian used to haul his 475 lobster traps. Bekah
was in the lobstering student apprentice program under Joe and
hauled 150 traps from her own 16 foot boat. Both teens brought their
boats to the Marina.
Look for the Maine lobster
boat, buoys, and traps when you visit Gaines Marina.

Naomi is a Creative Memories Consultant. She offers
Scrapbooking Classes and sells scrapbook supplies like photo albums,
digital software, stickers, tools, etc. You can order directly
from her web sitewww.mycmsite.com/ntreadwell or
stop by the marina for a personal consultation. Classes and
workshops will be offered at the Marina on
a regular basis.
The new Gaines Marina specializes in service. Long
time employee Gil Hough stayed with Gaines Marina. Gil
is well known for his expertise. He
has more than 30 years of experience working at marinas. Tom
Uber came all the way from Maine to
bring his experience from the B&A Boat Shop to Gaines Marina. He
excels in restoring the finish of a boat to make it shine like new. Tom
will be also be running the new bucket truck to stand masts and
check lines. Local
resident, Doug Tetreault, also joined the crew.
The first thing you may notice at Gaines Marina is the sturdy, wide
service dock. We
have installed a new pump out station for boater’s convenience. In
our Marine Store, there are marine supplies, convenience items and
snacks. We
also have ice and propane for sale. You’ll
find our gas and diesel prices to be some of the lowest on the lake.
You won’t find any other marina on this end of Lake
Champlain that
can compare to Gaines Marina for protection, great service and low
prices. Joe
has DEC certification to paint the bottom of boats. He
is also certified to spray AWL GRIP paint and plans to offer this
special finish in his new shop. We
have a hardworking crew here to serve you with fairness and
integrity.
The Treadwell family welcomes you to Gaines Marina. We think
you'll like the new changes we've brought to the Marina and
look forward to meeting you.
“SERVICE IS OUR SPECIALTY”
Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were
serving the Lord, not men. Ephesians
6:7 (NIV)
Gaines Marina has so much to offer both the boating traveler and
those searching for summer dockage. Located close to the Canadian
border at the mouth of the Richelieu River,
it is at the gateway to the USA and Canada.
For Canadians it is an prime location. After crossing the border by
car it's just a few minutes more to your dock. You can now proceed
south by boat without the hassles of crossing the border by boat.
Convenience, service, reputation, and hospitality!
